Formerly of the Sudanese-Australian hip-hop group, Together Like Brothers (a.k.a. TLB Clique), Sudanese-born, Abaker Athem (a.k.a. Ma$ta One), has embarked on a solo career. Building on TLB Clique’s breakthrough first album, ‘Life Achievement Mixtape’, Ma$ta One’s latest self-produced album, ‘Respect to the soldiers’ is a unique blend of rap, RnB, and traditional Sudanese influences.

Growing up in war-torn Sudan, Abaker spent time in Kakuma refugee camp before coming to the western Sydney suburb of St Marys. Since his arrival in 2003, Abaker has sought to articulate a message of hope to Sudanese and all young people. In 2010, Abaker returned to his homeland where he put on a series of shows to great acclaim. He has worked with some of Australian biggest news paper Sydney morning herald and ABC Radio. Also with performances at ‘Noise for Darfur’ fundraising concert in Parramatta, Club Rasta, Surry Hills, wisdom of the senior movement in Joan Sutherland centre in Penrith and a variety of interstate festivals, Abaker blends a socially-aware message with his unique brand of hip-hop. Ma$ta One’s albums can be found at iTunes, Amazon.com, and Nokia. Respect to the soldiers!
